If you just recently joined THE BLAST, you may not be aware of the annual Year End Seminar that Mike puts on just before the academy closes for the holidays. The seminar is fun, entertaining and extremely beneficial with the goal of demonstrating how all the programs here at The Blast come together and to teach new techniques and/or arts to all attendees. The theme of this years seminar is “How each program at THE BLAST relates to one another.”

Session One: Muay Thai Progressive Sparring and Boxing Counts
10am to 11:30a
The Muay Thai Kickboxing Session will focus on drills to help students learn how to or to improve their sparring and kickboxing game. Mike will introduce his Progressive 5 Level Sparring System, part of his American Muay Thai Association curriculum, along with 10 Boxing Combo’s handed down by one of his instructors, Master Lookchang from Thailand. Don’t miss this exciting segement as it will change your view of Thaiboxing for the future.
Session Two: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and its purpose for Sport, MMA and Street Self Defense
11:30am to 12:30pm
In this BJJ session, Mike will review BJJ moves recently taught to him by Marcello from his most recent trip to Indiana. Not only will this session introduce a varierty of new BJJ techniques, Mike will be emphasizing takedown moves from standing, where any fight or competition begins, to get you into a preferred position. This BJJ session will focus on Mike’s view of BJJ for sport, MMA and JKD.
Session Three: Understanding how all programs come together at THE BLAST
12:30pm to 2pm
The seminar will end with Mixed Martial Arts and JKD from 12:30pm to 2pm. During this session, Mike will show how Muay Thai, BJJ, MMA and JKD all come together!!! This portion of the seminar will be a one of a kind, one Mike has never previously taught. The action packed session will show you how Muay Thai blends into BJJ, MMA and JKD, along with how all the other arts compliment each other to make you a complete, all around martial artist.
As always, Mike will be telling stories about his training of trials and tribulations that molded him as a martial artist and instructor. Missing this seminar is not an option for BLAST members. This is something special for your BLAST career, an event that will increase your understanding of your art. Mark this date in your calendar now!

Fourth Annual Christmas Party 2pm to 4pm
Come enjoy pizza and drinks, on us, at THE BLAST following the Year End Seminar! Pizza and soda will delivered to the academy for all BLAST members to enjoy as a thank you for the hard work this past year and as a celebration of the holiday season. At 3pm Mike will talk briefly about a few minor changes at THE BLAST for 2010! After that we will head to the Jade Monkey located on the corner of Monona Drive and Cottage Grove Rd to continue with some adult fun!!
