The Personal Protection Program (PPP) was created in 1999 by THE BLAST head instructor and owner Mike Vaughn. Mike developed the program after a shocking kidnapping and murder in his hometown. Mike then decided that he would develop a Women's Self Defense program that would be simple, effective and fun to learn.

The program is based on 8 basic techniques (Tools of the Trade) that cause pain to an assailant in order to escape an attack. The program then explains how the 8 techniques can work with the 5 vital areas of the body (Areas of Attack). These techniques are functional and effective no matter what your size or strength is.

The program is divided into three parts:

              1. Standing grabs and holds.
              2. Ground grabs and holds
              3. Weapons attacks.

Standing Grabs and Holds (Part One)

In this section you will learn how to defend against: Wrist grabs, shirt grabs, front chokes, bear hugs, rear chokes and any strikes. There will be a large emphasis on situational awareness and common sense tactics.

Ground Grabs and Holds (Part Two)
In this section you will learn how to defend yourself against an opponent if they have you on the ground. Examples of this section include: tackles to the ground, being in a bed, on a couch, in a car etc........... The program will show you how to escape basic holds and grabs from the ground as well as learning how to defend from strikes. This section will discuss different scenarios of rape and how to prevent it from happening to you.

Weapons Attacks (Part Three)
In this section you will learn how to defend yourself against an attacker who may have some sort of weapon. Weapons such as knife, gun or club. This section will also show you how to turn everyday surroundings into a weapon for you to use to defend yourself. This is called,"Equalizing the Situation". If the opponent is bigger and stronger than you, you will need to find some weapon to equalize the situation to escape safely.

Other things you will learn include: how to escape multiple attackers, retreating, common sense tactics and use of a buddy system etc....

The PPP is the highest level of self defense you can receive without taking formal martial arts for many years. The program is taught in one 3 hour course or two 1 1/2 hours sessions. You have a duty to protect yourself and your loved ones. Are you Prepared?
