There are typically two different types of competitions at a BJJ event: GI (BJJ Uniform) or No GI (shirt and shorts). Students score points for takedowns and different BJJ positions (i.e. sweeps, submission attempts, control positions). A submission cancels all points and results in a win at any point and time during the match. This style of competition is best for students who wish to compete without the risk of major injury.
